PLATELET- RICH PLASMA

Meaning :

PRP treatment means blood is mainly a liquid (called plasma), it also contains small strong parts (red cells, white cells, and platelets.) The platelets are best known for their significance in clotting blood. However, platelets also contain many proteins called development factors which are vital in the healing of wounds.

PRP is plasma with many more platelets than what is commonly found in blood. The grouping of platelets — and, along the development factors — can be 5 to  10 times greater (or richer) than usual.

To build up a PRP preparation, blood should initially be drawn from a patient. The platelets are isolated from other platelets and their concentration is increased during a process called centrifugation. Then the increased concentration of platelets is combined with the remaining blood.

Cost :

The costs for PRP injections can range from $500 to $2,000.

Also, PRP costs can vary depending on location, facilities, and the expertise of the doctor performing the treatment. Often, a person will have multiple injections given 2 to 3 months apart.

You may experience PRP Side Effects in tenderness and soreness, minimal pain, and pinpoint bleeding in the areas where injections were delivered. You may also experience a sentiment of ‘tightness’ on your scalp for multi-day after the procedure.  A few patients also complain of a headache for a day post the procedure.
